PART 1 of 2: For many, price is a key factor in their defensive pistol choice. Luckily nowadays your options for a high value, high quality handgun are numerous. One such gun is the original Taurus PT 24/7 in 9mm (also in .40, .45 ACP); a good choice for home defense. This two part video series covers the regular PT 24/7 and not the upgraded 24/7 Pro model offered as of 2008 BY Taurus. It is compared against the proven design of the Glock 19 and some of the features of the G19 are covered in detail by way of contrast. The 24/7 is indeed a high value choice that has some good features. These would include an ergonomic and comfortable Ribber grip (with frame indentations that function as memory pads), outstanding accuracy, excellent reliability, good sights, loaded chamber indicator (extractor protrudes), and a relatively light DAO trigger pull. The keyed Taurus Security System is a bow to prevailing political correctness and is completely unneeded and potentially dangerous. It could lead to an inoperable sidearm should you misplace your keys. And to be honest, this 24/7 model also had some significant downsides as well: very sharp edges on the magazine and slide release levers, critical controls clustered together can cause confusion, a troublesome field strip (with a loose part too), very long trigger takeup i(takes training to master), a bulky form factor, higher bore axis, an unneeded safety lever, and the rubber grip can catch on clothing (jeopardizing waist carry concealment). However once used to the trigger staging, the 24/7 standard model shoots well indeed (see Nutnfancys shooting video of the 24/7) showing excellent smoothness, accuracy, and reliability (with FMJs). Also the company Taurus gets high marks for its support for your right for self-defense and gives a free year of NRA membership with your purchase (as of 2008). Upgraded versions of the 24/7 like the PRO and OSS models, will have the improved SA/DA hybrid trigger with have an improved and lighter pull (still long though). Despite some drawbacks this model of Taurus 24/7 is still a very capable gun at a very reasonable price. ///////////////////////////// Comparison to Glock 19, which is size comparable. If a pistol design exceeds the Glock standards in all categories over a long period, it will become the new standard of reference: WEIGHT: Advantage Glock by 4.5 ounces FIREPOWER: Advantage Taurus with stock factory mags. But advantage Glock with FACTORY +2 baseplates, G17 mags, or the 33 rd G18 mag. ACCURACY: Tie, both extremely accurate ERGONOMICS: Advantage G19 (unneeded grip safety but XD 1911 grip angle preferable) SIMPLICITY: Advantage G19 (no grip safety) ACCESSORIES: Mostly a tie VALUE: Advantage Taurus, awesome value for quality DURABILITY and RELIABILITY: Advantage Glock by virtue of track record; 24/7 still proving its reputation but all indicators show excellent performance here TRACK RECORD: Advantage G19 so far, proven world wide for decades in LE and military service. !/////////////////////Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 6 out of 10.////////////////////// If you own a gun of ANY kind and are not a member of the NRA you need to change your ways. 1. only the first and second gen gun the newer ones have a single double action trigger like a beretta
  2. Sorry for the spam. I'm trying to respond to coolhand12guage's response about taurus being adopted after HK removed themselves from our operations in the middle east.
  3. There are some things that are incorrect about your statement. The special forces mostly use HK USP Compact Tactical (threaded). The special forces are dropping HK because HK deemed our involvement in the wars unethical so they no longer support our use of their firearms. They did not stop using HK pistols and rifles because of performance. It's because of international affairs. The army is using berettas still. Taurus does not have a pistol that competes with a mk23. Not even close to close.

  5. Hey how are things? I really like your vid's and they are verry helpful, i was wondering if you could do a vid on the TAURUS pt111 9mm as a CCW! thanks.
  6. NO BARK LOL
  7. I have a 24/7 in .45 acp. It took a while to get the "sweet spot" on the trigger, but I really like this weapon. The downsides are.. The stock sights is horrible and mags are costly. Change the sights and you have a reliable sidearm!!
  8. I bought a Taurus PT-92 in 1985, great gun, Also got a PT-22 and a PT-911. Taurus makes a great product, I have found their quality to be as good as my Colt and Smith & Wesson pistols, People who bad-mouth Taurus are misinformed.
  9. Or you could just practice when you are bored at home. That is what I do. I put in a good movie and clean the gun and then practice with the saftey and reloads. fast is smooth, smooth is fast
  10. Great point on the saftey. If you must have a saftey practice practice practice taking it on/off during your normal shooting exercises
  11. Did the special forces really adopt the Taurus OSS?
  12. Thanks for your input coolhand. So is the PT111 DAO?
  13. Not everyone can afford a thousand dollor pistol that has a shit warrentey. TAURUS 4 LIFE. If It breaks send it back for free. They are cheap but also RELIABLE!! Why do you think that the FUCKING UNITED STATES SPECIAL FORCES addopted the Taurus OSS for its new side arm, over a expensive german peice junk compared to the taurus. The MK23 WAS the ussocom side arm but not anymore. TAURUS IS BETTER!!!!and so it replaced that german junk. Taurus rules buy american. Taurus headquartered in MIAMI usa!
  14. I'll tell you my review. I have a 2nd Gen. PT111 and hardley ever jams. I call it my little kalashnokov. It has a heavy and long trigger pull, but is smooth. It is accurate is you know how to really work the trigger. You just need to play with it for hours with snap caps and it a great gun to last forever. I hope to pass it on to my kid someday. With that Taurus Warrenty I know it will last to be pasted down for grnerations to come. Great gun!!
  15. I guess It is a combanation of the three. And Recoil is nothing if the gun is built and balenced right and has a decent sized barrel.full size 5 inch 1911s in 45 have little recoil to me but a 3inch 1911 would have a hell of a kick! I've never shot a .357 or a 10MM but I have shot 38spls and 9mm 40 45 I wish I could shoot the rest but Im 16 and only get to the range with my mom or friends in the desert here in Az a few times a month and I just shoot what I own. see my myspace 4 pics of them
  16. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. But the question is are you talking about recoil, impact, penetration, or a combination of the three?
  17. your german tough, so your used to over-complicated things
  18. crap. go shoot your glock
  19. I own a G38 .45 gap and a 24/7 pro .45. The G38 is smaller and lighter but I chose to carry the Taurus because I shoot much better with it. It fits my hand like it has always been attached to me. Also I actually prefure the thumb safety. It's a visual and touch indication of safety. Plus my brother in law is a cop and he has taught me to flip the safety as I draw. And him being a 15 year vet, loved to shoot the 24/7. That is a reputable thumbs up to me. A fine pistol for $350.
  20. "you have no safety to worry about" wow, great job, Glock.
  21. Would love to see a review on the Taurus Millennium Pro. :)
  22. Im not quite sure but this is some kinda guideline. .380, 9mm, 40SW, 45, 10mm, .357 I'm pretty sure the .357 and the 10MM are close in power. The 10MM is a 40 on sterroids
  23. What's the order from weakest to strongest on these bullet sizes? 9mm, 40cal,10mm,.45,.380 and .357
  24. Glock is a no nonses tool that goes bang most of the time. I have had issues with a glock but could of been the ammo. HK for life indeed, that is my primary fire arm i carry a USP .40 c concealed even tho it is bulky and kinda heavy. I love it tho and would not compromise by carrying other pistols that might get me killes. HK is always the way to go
  25. Taurus's are cheapo guns, Walmart specials. Glocks are ok, but far too much plastic. Can't comment on Sig. HK for life.
