    In the U.S. they butchered this and renamed it "Voltron" (the vehicle version.) They did the same thing with "Go Lion". The shows originally were not related.

    Thats what separates the genres a bit. "Super Robots" versus "Real Robots". Super Robots included things that fit the mold that Nadesico's Gekiganger mockup series created, whereas Real Robots fit things that science had more to do with, logic, technology. Series where the main characters weren't immortal, where death on the battlefield was a reality, not just someone screaming in a cockpit.

    I like Votoms, Macross, and Gundam the best because everything else seems like they used them for the concept of power rangers. The use of giant robots for war was a great idea and the others just didn't keep up.

    Indeed. You watch through almost all of these other shows on this compilations and their all about super hero teams with giant robots that fuse together to make one mega bot. Macross and gundam 0079 were years ahead of everyone else.
