    AdamArmchair is right; Sara Bareilles wrote this song because her music label requested a love song. They said that she needed to write a love song because they were in demand. She didn't want to write one just because popularity demanded it, so she wrote this instead & entitled it "Love Song".

    I kind of do think the video makes sence, tbh. At the start the guy puts a coin in the slot on the booth called "Love songs," and she jams the coin in the cogs, showing that he wants a love song, but she doesn't give a damn; She's not going to sing one just because he wants her to. It's just a visual representation of the lyrics, not so subliminal if you ask me. But whatev. xD
