- I like his talking style, interesting
- I really don't understand the Linux vs Windows thing?
- this guy sucks ass
- Yeah, Microsoft doesn't care about putting hardwork into their OS's. That's exactly why Microsoft employees wrote over 50 million lines of code for Vista. Also, you aren't thinking about the many shitty Linux distributions that end up failing. Don't get me wrong, I like Linux. My main computer dualboots Ubuntu and Windows and my laptop has DSL, but I'm tired of countless Linux users who are so full of themselves.
- It does not advance, the tux send everything right, and there is not any kind of code that we closed down because the union makes the force.
- I had to use SVN some times and even before I heard this talk I always wondered how people could be happy with that. Not just that it's not distributed, it's actually slow as hell. Example: determining that the update to the next revision consists of deleting 5 files takes it about two minutes for a relatively small repo. I think it's ok to keep using SVN where it has been used before, to avoid migration problems, but if you start a new project and decide to use SVN or CVS, it is just stupid.
- I know what you mean, but when he talked about SVN I thought it was way too much, funny, but too over board. I don't use either SVN or git, but if I were, it would be just too much listening to him.
- Heh is good speaker apparently hate to talk :)
- Well, here it goes, Linux vs Microsoft, shame on you all. Unlike what Linus said nothing from this discution is about git or DVCS... :(
- He is a incredibly good speaker in his own ways. I find the so called "professional speakers" ordinary and boring. Linus in the other way is smart and fun.
- good thing I'm done with windows and have migrated to Ubuntu linux, Linux is more of a humble OS then anything, Microsoft is just plain arrogant, corrupt and greedy. Linux actually cares about making a good OS and putting hard work into it.
- You Windows users are so stupid. You always have to flatter you Windows, which you know a s*hit about !! :) If you know nothing about Windows or Microsoft, don't come here to comment that Bill Gates is more nerd than Linus Torvalds, Windows is better than linux or so on... Go fuck yourself noob Windows users :) Thanks!
- no, he is funny, and the audience laughed a lot at his jokes I've never used Linus and/or Git, I'm not a tech enthusiast or programmer, but Linus's speechifications are very entertainig to watch anyway
- This guys is a true man.
- man , he really IS a bad speaker
- so you should rather ACCEPT awkward changes without saying anything? Or should you just plain ignore such changes? How about, how do you tell it's "awkward"? Just swish it under the carpet? I don't see what your suggestion is...
- he's a tard.. let's ignore them for now
- Linus your a fucking pimp man. Kinda odd but fucking great man.
- Well, Gates, as I know, is a geek - at least was when he was young. But Jobs seems to be more into selling and management, while Wozniak being an actual tech geek. P.S. Just looked at Jobs' page at Wikipedia, it has a lot of interesting statements: never knew that his actual father was Syrian, that he backpacked around India and experimented with LSD, etc
- Why do you think so?
- Linux is a git.
- steve...yes Bill ...way no!
- Why to beat a dead dog?
- Interesting that he did not bitch about SourceSafe (at least in the first 5 mins when I was still interested.) Maybe Google asked him not to?
- He's a bad speaker, so you're getting hung up on irrelevant details (how it helps Linus) while missing the benefits that apply to everything from corporate projects to small team projects and even individual projects. The cheap branching and merging is incredible. Even for a solo dev, the performance, offline capabilities, and variety of tools to manipulate the tree are unbelievable. Convincing yourself that it doesn't live up to the hype is retarded, go try it, you won't be disappointed.
