- well we are happy she is not our VP and we thank Jesus for that. LOL
- HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH was the 2008 election really close !~!!@! HA Mccain got his ass wooped.....
- stupid american
- anyway. it is time for the christian-conservatists to understand, that this country has changed in the sense that they will no more be able to impose their will on the majority of the American People. Look how close the presidential elections in 2000 and 2008 were.
- jeepndd, Actually come to think of it... They reacted a lot like you.
- jeepndd, Yup... he gave the number of stops left on his itinerary. Much like Palin confused her ass and her elbow after 3 hours of prep, and was unable to name a magazine or newspaper... hmmm. That is pretty much why he returned after Harvard... and amazingly enough he made a small difference there in terms of breaking the good ol' boy network. He didn't clean politics up but he sure put a knot in a few of their undies.
- bobhardball, Sorry Bob... I don't. I was on the other edge of the country that year. Someone could have poured a bucket of information about NC in my ear at the time and it would have gone straight through. Nod, I know folks exactly like you describe. Mom on the other hand wasn't one of them. From her bed in the hospital as she lay dying from cancer, I could hear her yelling at the TV news commentators... before I got off the elevator... and OMG such language. Chuckle.
- Yeah, but just make sure you gloss over the fact that our genius incoming president who campaigned in "...all fifty-seven states..." managed to spend 20 years in Chicago Gangland Political corruption and never noticed anything wrong. Obama = Supah Gene-yous! But atleast we don't have to wait for McCain to die before we get someone stupid in office right?
- Yes I do not believe the Media but when they have them asking her the questions and she does not come up with a good and well rounded anwser then it just proves how stupid she really was. Like for an example when she was asked what was the bail out plan was, She could not even give what the Bail Out Plan was. Everyone knows what the bail out plan is! I am Happy that McCain Lost because if he died and she came President, I think that she would be the first president to only last one day in office
- do you remember the 2000 gubernatorial race in north carolina? my dad was about to vote for the republican candidate. then he had a conversation with Andy Griffith who appeared in a ad for Mike Easley. that was the turning point for my dad: he voted for the liberal candidate, 'cause he was fed up with the christian-conservatism. he did the same in '08, 'cause senator dole was getting too closer to the christian-conservatives. you look like my dad. that is interesting...
- bobhardball, Stings a bit doesn't it? My ass is still smarting from the whole thing. I fully sympathize. My solution was a resolution to not vote for GOP candidates in the hope that if enough people demonstrated the same behavior, they would have no choice. On the other hand, the notion has occurred to me that this is probably wrong. If I see someone who seems to me to be constructive, and valuable, responsible, reasonable, etc... I'll vote for them regardless of party.
- MajorShootinPayne: I fully agree with on the issue of the Christian-Conservatism taking fully control of the GOP. BUT I haven not decided yet whether I should live the GOP and vote again democrat in '12. 'Cause I still hope that the GOP will reduce the influence of the religious right and reach out to the independents and minorities in a sincere and respectful way.
- bobhardball, Exactly the reason I will not return to the party, support the party in any way, or vote again for a Republican again until they clean house. For me, the GOP has lost any claim to being conservative. While a person may be Christian and be a conservative, the coinage, "Christian-Conservative" is an oxymoron due to its implication that a particular faith best represents the party and the nation. Not, "very conservative" but to the contrary, a euphemism for National Socialist.
- MajorShootinPayne: religion has no place in a government which represents all of its people? I could not agree with you more. BUT have you take a look at the intentions/plans of the gop-leaders interested in being rnc chairman or running in '12? ALL or most of them have a very conservative agenda and intend to inject religion into politics. one of these highly conservative front-runners is gov. sarah palin, whose strong ties to the christian-conservative base is legendary.
- bobhardball, I do indeed remember '84. This election seems bigger. More important in scale. The GOP has pretty much fallen apart. Republican Party officials are back-biting and maneuvering to place blame. I'll save them some trouble. The US requires both liberal and conservative ideologies to function as framed. Neither remains faithful if left alone to their own devices. Religion has no place in a government which represents all of its people. Spin is not cleaver and we are not stupid.
- I just found the smear campaign that followed a little mean spirited and a bit over the top. As far as I was concerned, I would have been glad to see her slip back into obscurity, quietly finish her gubernatorial role in Alaska and then go back to sleep. It was pointless to stand around at the water cooler bashing her over the head for losing the campaign. For me, McCain lost that campaign fair and square, it was not just because of Palin - we already knew she was an idiot.
- Indeed, you'll get no argument out of me on that point. I found the Palin pick to be insulting on many levels. If not first of all because McCain didn't even WANT to pick her but proved he had been sufficiently whipped into a puppet on a string. As a woman voter, I found the pick condescending as if gender would play any role in my vote (yes, I was one of those "undecided" voters). Frankly, her overall performance was an embarassment to American Politics (also to Alaska).
- MajorShootinPayne: do you remember 1984? after having won the election against carter in 1980, reagan managed to rebuild the economy and improved considerably the living conditions of the middle-class. that was the beginning of the "reagan democrats", who decisively helped reagan to win by landslide in 1984. this might happen in '12 for the liberals, if they get our country out of the economic mess we are in now. the gop should know that and do something.
- abrown2980, McCain staff prepped her for 3 hours and the questions were pre-approved before hand by McCain staff. What we should feel insulted about is that Republican owned media, consented to these conditions, and then failed to follow her gaff with a strong enough confrontational line of questioning effectively pulling the punch while Palin insisted on falling on her own sword on national TV, not once, but consistently. She had the questions, and the answers and couldn't pass the final.
- bobhardball, I'm finding that telling them works almost as well as a 2x4. I'm almost surprised at how few odd looks I get. They either figure it out or lose power. Who knows. Maybe they'll just have to move over as a second conservative party without the predisposition to mental illness moves in. It's happened before, it could happen again.
- Somehow you both missed my point: Because I don't listen to media hype, I am WELL AWARE that Obama is not Muslim and he IS an American. Media hype has perpetuated the ambiguity - since these clowns will say anything to sell air time (such as "Palin didn't know how many countries were in North America") I wasn't duped into believing the lies told about Obama, either. I think we should be insulted if these clowns expect us to believe that Palin can't count to 3, it smacks of yellow journalism.

- MajorShootinPayne: I guess the gop needs a shock therapy (big loses in the upcoming mid-term elections or a liberal landslide in '12?) in order to realize that there is an urgent need of reforming the party.
- where did I mention anything about anyones race? the person reading you the posts is obivously illiterate.
- bobhardball, Nod... The GOP needs to recall that we are essentially the Hall Monitors and Bean Counters of government... The Libs are the Dreamers and Idealists. Folks like Rush make that sound like a bad arrangement and it isn't. When it worked the way it was meant to work, we squared off and fought in session to work out what to improve, and how much we should spend on it... Now we just hang the laundry in the breeze and pretend our own shorts are still tidy and white.
