These are kids in Mombasa playing soccer/football. They are a team that my buddy Johnny Mayaka put together and coaches to give them something to do and keep them off the streets. The music is "Ndivyo Sivyo" by the Tanzanian hip-hop artist Professor J and Ugandan artist Chameleone (check out the original video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmArBP8Oiik this is a solid example of good East African hip-hop) I shot this footage in December of 2007 at the request of my buddy Johnny who was also my Swahili tutor - he's the guy seen in the video coaching. Most of these kids are Muslims - note the mosque in the background. It is also interesting to see that they play barefoot and don't seem bothered or slowed down at all.
