    Well, it's not that unusual that musicians are interested in trying new stuff, meet new challenges, nothing strange about that. Sharon has done a lot of stuff outside of WT, with bands like Avantasia, Orphanage, Aemen, Timo Tolkki and Delain to name a few. In this particular case the answer to your question is that Sharon and Armin are friends, he sent her a piece of music, she wrote a melody and lyrics to it and they recorded it together.
